Head of Academy (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a hands-on Head of Academy to lead a small, dynamic team of six, managing four direct reports. The role is with a non-profit regulatory body, whose primary role is to ensure that professionals in the field meet the required standards of education, ethics, and clinical practice.
The role is predominantly remote with 1-2 days in the London office per month, and requires a proactive leader with strong project management skills, capable of jumping between multiple projects and meetings. You will work closely with different departments and stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital learning content, ensuring courses are impactful and aligned with learner needs.
As a leader, you will foster a positive, solution-focused environment, encouraging team autonomy while being available for support and addressing challenges as they arise. This is a role with a lot of variety, perfect for someone driven to make an impact.
About the Role
This is a full-time, temporary role (13 months), leading the Academy team to develop and deliver online learning resources. You'll oversee strategy, manage projects, and ensure content is engaging, aligned with organisational values, and meets learner needs. You’ll also be responsible for budget management and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create innovative educational materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategy in line with organisational goals.
- Lead the team and manage learning projects on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce engaging content with measurable learning outcomes.
- Maintain a quality assurance framework and evaluate the impact of the Academy's initiatives.
- Report on Academy progress to senior leadership and facilitate feedback.
Essential Criteria
- Proven leadership in learning and development.
- Experience in digital learning and instructional design.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
Desired Criteria
- Qualification in learning and development/education.
- Experience in veterinary, medical, or regulatory environments.
