Chief Executive Officer, Infection Prevention Society (IPS)
0.8 FTE | Remote (UK) | c.£80,000 pro rata
An opportunity to lead a newly established professional staff team and shape the future of a national membership organisation does not come along often.
The Infection Prevention Society is seeking an outstanding Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through its next phase of development, growth and impact.
This is a pivotal appointment for the Society. Following a period of significant transformation, IPS now has strong governance, modern infrastructure and a committed, high-performing staff team in place. The next CEO will build on these foundations to secure long-term financial sustainability, strengthen the Society’s influence, and ensure IPS continues to deliver real value for its members and the wider health and care system.
Working closely with the Board of Trustees, President and senior leadership team, you will provide strategic direction, lead and develop a small remote team, and represent IPS as a credible, authoritative voice in infection prevention and control. You will play a central role in diversifying income, developing partnerships and positioning the Society for sustainable growth in a complex and evolving landscape.
We are looking for a strategic, commercially astute leader with senior experience in a membership organisation, charity or professional body. You will bring strong financial and governance capability, excellent stakeholder management skills and a collaborative, values-led leadership style. Whilst knowledge of infection prevention is not essential, an understanding of (or strong interest in) health, care and professional practice is important.
The role is offered on a 0.8 FTE basis (30 hours per week) and is fully remote, with occasional travel across the UK for meetings, events and the annual conference. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements that support both organisational needs and work–life balance.
