Victoria has worked at the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, now the National Education Union, since 2007, firstly as head of communications, then as Assistant General Secretary for communications and membership.
In her current role, she oversees the department’s work to recruit, retain and engage members and to influence stakeholders as well as contributing to the union’s overall strategy and direction as part of the senior leadership team. Her most recent projects include securing the ‘yes’ vote in the ballot amalgamate, overseeing the creation of the NEU’s new brand, and managing organisational and cultural change.
Having trained as journalist at the University of Central Lancashire, Victoria began her career on local and national newspapers in 1997 before moving into press office work, starting at the Local Government Association then teachers’ union NASUWT before joining the charity, Teacher Support Network as director of communications.
Victoria and her partner split their time between Brighton and south London, and she has a son at primary school. She is vice chair of governors and chair of curriculum committee at a federated nursery and infants school in Sutton.
