Richard is a specialist in membership engagement and developing value propositions within the professional services sector. His background is in membership development, marketing and business strategy with over 25 years’ experience. He has worked for leading professional membership bodies and commercial organisations, within the accountancy, legal, HR and L&D and CRM sectors.
Richard was Head of Marketing and Membership at CIMA for 6 years transforming the brand and set up the corporate and membership marketing function for ICAEW. Whilst, at CIPD, he overhauled the membership proposition and developed a differentiated offer recognising the career stage and specific requirements of each member grade. Following a 5 year period of membership stagnation, Richard reignited sustained membership growth.
He has also worked for business membership organisation FSB, Ernst and Young, the accountancy firm and Taylor Wessing, a city law firm, all in commercially driven senior strategic marketing roles. Prior to joining CIMA, Richard was Client Director for Identex, an out-sourced CRM provider where he was responsible for their biggest accounts managing the CRM requirements for Daimler Benz, Dolland & Aitchison (the optician with 20m customers) and Chase de Vere investments.
He has a record of successfully building customer propositions and partnerships which have delivered significant growth in revenue, membership and markets and in an international context.
