Andrea is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Until her retirement in 2015 she was a partner in the Somerset firm Greaves Brewster LLP, of which she had been a co-founder.
A former President of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), Andrea is a member of the Institute’s governing Council and serves on several of its committees, including the Education & Professional Standards Committee, Business Practice Committee, Congress Committee and Paralegals’ Committee. Her work there has included several initiatives for developing CIPA’s relationships with its members, in particular its student, paralegal and regionally-based members, reinforced by a highly successful “Meet the Members” campaign in the run-up to her Presidency. She also created initiatives to increase CIPA’s involvement and influence in the wider IP community.
Andrea established and now leads the IP Inclusive movement, which promotes equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the IP professions. Run almost entirely by volunteers and reliant on sponsorship, IP Inclusive brings together several membership organisations within the sector, and their individual and corporate members, as well as the UK Intellectual Property Office.
In her spare time, Andrea writes a light-hearted blog about her work: thenotsosecretdiary.weebly.com.
