BBC journalist and newsreader Simon McCoy to host 2019 memcom awards

We are delighted to announce that television journalist and newsreader Simon McCoy will be presenting the memcom membership excellence awards on June 20th at 155 Bishopsgate, London.

Simon is a presenter for BBC News and is most known for his work on Afternoon Live, in addition to regularly presenting BBC News at One and BBC Weekend News.

Simon began his journalism career at the Fleet Street News Agency in London and has since forged a diverse and impressive career in media across multiple broadcasters – from taking on the role of Royal Correspondent for Sky between 1991-1996 through to providing live coverage of the Iraq War on location in Kuwait and Basra during 2003. Simon joined the BBC in 2004 and is now a well-known face for audiences across the country.

Simon told us: “I’m delighted to be presenting at memcom this summer on behalf of BBC Media Action! I’m looking forward to hearing about the most progressive work to come out of the sector and, by all accounts, the 20th anniversary year for memcom is shaping up to be an exciting year to be part of.”

Simon will be attending the event in support of BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development charity. BBC Media Action is an independent charity not funded by the BBC licence fee which believes in the power of media and communication to help reduce poverty and support people around the world to understand their rights. The charity reaches over 200 million people a year with trusted information and creative communication, helping them to make sense of events, engage in dialogue, and take action to improve their lives.

We are very much looking forward to Simon’s attendance and know he will make the 2019 memcom awards ceremony a night to remember.

Created to empower the leaders of today and the aspiring leaders of tomorrow, the annual memcom membership excellence awards are firmly established as a celebration of all that’s great in professional bodies, trade associations, membership charities and other not-for-profit membership organisations. The awards recognise the innovation, creativity and hard work which drives up standards in the membership sector and delivers increased value for its professions and society at large.

Tickets to the award ceremony are now sold out but there is a waiting list available. Tickets to this year’s conference, taking place during the day on June 20th, can be purchased here.
