Our client, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), is seeking a proactive and organised Membership Officer to join their new and dynamic Membership Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in enhancing member engagement and supporting the growth of a professional community dedicated to protecting and improving public and environmental health.
The Membership Officer will support the delivery of CIEH’s membership strategy, helping to attract new members, strengthen engagement, and improve retention. Working closely with the newly appointed Membership Manager, you’ll ensure that members receive excellent service and feel part of a thriving, supportive network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and delivery of membership engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies.
- Coordinate and deliver member events, both virtual and in-person, ensuring high-quality experiences that reflect CIEH’s values and mission.
- Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders to promote member activities, forums, and success stories.
- Maintain accurate member records through the CRM system and contribute to improved communications and recognition processes.
- Represent CIEH at events and ensure member feedback and insights help shape future engagement initiatives.
Person Specification:
- Experience working in a membership, events, or stakeholder engagement role—ideally within a professional body, charity or not-for-profit organisation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a strong customer focus.
- Proven ability to plan, organise, and deliver events and engagement activities.
- Understanding of membership dynamics and the importance of providing value and a personalised experience.
- Confident using CRM systems and digital tools to manage member data and engagement.
- Highly motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
