Our client is now seeking an outstanding Head of Finance to lead the organisation’s financial strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Trustee Board, this is a senior leadership role equivalent to Director of Finance level.
The Intensive Care Society (ICS) is the professional home for the UK’s intensive care community — bringing together doctors, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, and allied health professionals dedicated to saving and transforming lives. As a small but high-impact healthcare charity, ICS drives research, innovation, and best practice to improve outcomes for patients and their families.
The Head of Finance role offers the opportunity to shape the charity’s financial future and contribute to its overall strategic direction. Some key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of financial management, governance and compliance.
- Lead on annual budgets, business planning, management reporting and statutory accounts in line with the Charities SORP.
- Manage the audit process, oversee financial controls and risk management, and ensure the Society operates to the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will also provide expert financial insight to support strategic decisions, manage the Finance & Membership Services Officer, and oversee key operational functions including HR, IT, and office systems.
This role will suit a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong charity finance experience, excellent communication skills, and the credibility to influence at Board level. You’ll thrive in a hands-on environment where strategic thinking and operational delivery go hand in hand.
If you want to play a leading role in a respected healthcare charity making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you!
Please apply by Wednesday 29 October.
